What's the difference between bodyboard PE and PP cores?

Thu, 05/08/2010 - 16:47 — Goodtime

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between the two most common foam cores used in bodyboards? Check out the video below to find out:

Transcription:

Here at Goodtime we've got a wide range of boards from a wide range of manufacturers in both cores.

We've got PE boards like this. PE is a great core for your colder sort of climates, particularly when you're pushing through really heavy waves. It's a little bit heavier, it's a little bit denser and it offers you a little bit more flex.

A lot of riders South of Sydney tend to use a PE with single stringer combination, but the board we recommend and the core we recommend for your Queensland climate is a polypropelyne or PP board.

PP tends to be a little bit lighter, it's a little bit stiffer, it is a little bit more expensive as well, but what you get for that money is you get a slightly stiffer board, you get a board that tends to last a little bit longer in our hotter water, and you get a board that looks great and feels good when you're riding the waves.

Once you've got your board, all you need is your accessories.
