Southern Raider Sea Kayak

The Southern Raider was designed where distances are being covered in varying sea conditions, rough and calm. Its lower deck profile enables it to perform extremely well in windy conditions, while its longer hull gives it greater speed and allows it to respond in the surf to virtually any wave.

Standard Features

The Southern Raider has three storage compartments which all have self-sealing water-tight rubber hatch lids, one of which is behind the cockpit and can be reached while paddling. It has deck rope which is fitted with flush fittings (no bolts are used) so you can attach deck nets, split paddles, gear etc.

The Southern Raider comes standard with all our features, double seam joining of the deck and hull, podded seat, thus reducing the floodable area and strengthening the seat pan, retractable rudder, deck lines and carry toggles.

If you are seeking superior handling in the roughest of conditions in an expedition kayak then you must experience the Southern Raider.

Construction

Raider kayaks are built from the lightest and strongest fibreglass, kevlar or carbon laminates available on the market. A high quality gel coat covers the exterior of the kayak to protect the laminate from abrasion and ultraviolet rays. The high proportion of cloth to resin ratio of approximately 70% fibre to 30% resin yields a stronger kayak due to the fibre content. The high quality smooth interior finish on the Southern Raider's hull and deck eliminates nasty fibreglass itch and possible abrasion on personal gear inside the boat.
