Stephen Tapp Sea Anchor

Stephen Tapp Sea Anchor
08stappseaanchor

Also known as the sea anchor. Heavy duty construction using marine rated materials. These drift chutes are specifically designed for kayak fishing.

They feature a free sliding bridle system allowing the kayak to swing in the wind without upsetting or collapsing the drift chute. The foam float at the tail of the drift chute keeps it on the surface and working correctly, minimizing the risk of it sinking and causing the bow to dip unexpectedly in step chop or boat wakes. It also stops it sinking and fouling fishing lines.

Normally deployed off the bow the drift chute brings the kayak almost to a complete stop. The slow drift sternwards is used to keep line angles in front of the kayaker. After hooking up on a large fish the running rig is used to swap the drift chute to the stern. This will keep the kayak pointing down the line pull and allows the angler to apply maximum line pressure to land the fish.

If the fish swims to the side and the line angle changes, the kayak held by the drift chute will drag sideways and continue to point down the line pull. This keeps the kayak pointed in the right direction for the angler to apply maximum pressure.

This helps minimize the chances of having to fight a fish directly over the side causing the kayak to become unstable.

Designed to stow easily behind the seat or in the pocket of the insulated well cover

Available in medium or large.

Made in New Zealand.
